Dad's the strong, silent type.
Six years ago, Mahmut Kuğuoğlu, the father of Mürteza Kuğuoğlu,
passed away in Şahinyuva village of Giresun's Görele district at the
age of 76. Two years later, while Mürteza was touring a wax museum
in Bursa, he got the idea to have a wax statue of his father made. (!)
A good listener, too.
Mürtaza dressed the statue in his father's clothes and put it in the
living room of his house. Some visitors think the statue is really
Mahmut Bey and ask "Is he not well? Why doesn't he say anything?"
And others even put go up to Mahmut Bey to shake hands.
Loves the outdoors - but keep it cool, lest he melt.
When the weather is good Mürteza brings his 'father' outside for some
fresh air and his mother Emine (80) sits down next to Mahmut Bey
to chat from time to time.
Gorele is along Turkey's eastern Black Sea coast.
