For suicide-prevention...
Abdullah U. (21), a student in Meram, Konya, threw himself into a
3.5-meter deep well in a remote field in an attempt to commit suicide.
However (!), Abdullah U. had second thoughts about this and called
the police, who directed the student to send them his location via his
cellphone. Once the police located the well, they extended a tree
branch to Abdullah U. so he could climb to safety.

...and lifelong companionship.
Passers-by in a forested area of Yildirim, Bursa, heard a woman
pleading for help so they called the police, who arrived at the scene
to find that Serpil C (25) had fallen down a 20-meter embankment.
Rescue crews worked to save the tipsy Serpil hanim but she insisted
that unless her telephone could be found she did not want to be
rescued (!). The crews then searched the area for 20 minutes and
found Serpil hanim's phone in the bushes. It had fallen out of her
pocket as she fell down the hill.
Serpil hanim then agreed to be hoisted up the embankment on a
stretcher but she still had to be persuaded to enter the waiting
ambulance (!).
Yildirim (A) is on the slopes of Uludag mountain.
