And don't get too comfortable!
In Istanbul, Veysel İpekçi, the AKP (ruling party in Turkey) deputy
mayor of Güngören district, punished driver E.T. (30) for not standing
when he saw İpekçi. The penalty for E.T. was to sit in front of a toilet
(!) in the building's canteen and rise whenever İpekçi passed.
The day before yesterday, İpekçi entered an office at the Güngören
municipal building but E.T., who was also in the same office,
did not get up. Enraged, İpekçi said to the driver "Don't you recognize
me?! Why didn't you get up?!" In response, E.T. said "my chief, I
didn't notice you had come in."
Not satisfied with this explanation, İpekçi had a chair put out in the
corridor in front of the children's toilet and told E.T. "from now on
you'll sit here and whenever you see me you will rise!" E.T. was
scared that he might lose his job so he complied with his exile.
When the Güngören mayor heard about the incident he scolded İpekçi
and E.T.'s punishment was ended.
Failed toilet-training as a child.
