"Vizontele"'s hero.
The problem was that telephones weren't acquiring a signal in the
village of Onbaşılar on the border with Iran 40 miles east of
Yüksekova in Hakkari province in extreme southeastern Turkey.
Emrah Yardımcı (22) had just returned to Onbaşılar from Antalya,
where he was studying electronics communication technology at
Akdeniz University until he ran out of money to support himself.
So Yardımcı rolled up his sleeves and decided to try to solve his
village's telephone problem.

Taking inspiration from the Norwegian town of Rjukan, where
residents installed giant mirrors in 2013 to reflect sunlight onto the
town during the dark days of winter, Yardımcı put together a "base
station" using a satellite antenna, a big round metal tray and
aluminum foil (!). Now, Onbaşılar's residents can use their phones
and ride the internet, as well.

"Vavien"'s 'hero' hubby, right, and victim wife, back seat - left.
In August 2016, Ramazan S. (40) and his wife Ayşe S. (31) had
a car accident while on their way to Mudanya from Bursa.
Afterwards, Ayşe hanım filed a criminal complaint against
Ramazan bey, asserting that he had deliberately tried to kill her
by having the accident.
Yesterday at a hearing of the case, Ayşe hanım reiterated her
accusation and added that she suspected that Ramazan bey
was having an affair with his business partner A.Ş. In Ayşe
hanım's view, the two lovers plotted to kill her.
Scene of the 2016 'accident' (Hmmmmmmmmmm).
For his part, Ramazan bey denied the charges. However (!),
his own father A.H.S. testified that Ramazan bey had twice left
the gas open at home and that there were no brake marks at
the accident scene. An expert witness report submitted to the
court stated that Ramazan bey was completely responsible for
the accident and that he tried to cover up the cause of the crash,
intentionally steering his car toward the median barrier he hit.
Mudanya is just north of Bursa, on the shore of the Sea of
Marmara.
