Sniffer dogs were on leave that day.
In Adana, 3 youths were driving around in a luxury vehicle. As they
waited at a red light in the Küçükdikili neighborhood of Seyhan
district, a motorcycle police team stopped their car for a traffic check.
Looking through the car window the police saw a plant in a flower
pot and something resembling narcotic leaves in plastic jerry cans.
When the light turned green, the youths began to leave despite the
police warning to stop. A chase ensued along Turan Cemal
Beriker Boulevard, one of the town's busiest streets, with more police
teams getting involved. On Dr. Ali Menteşoğlu Avenue, as the
youths tried to squeeze by a minibus that was approaching the
sidewalk to pick up a passenger, their car got stuck between the
minibus and the sidewalk.
"And you wanna be my salamura salesman..."
Police surrounded the vehicle and the 3 youths were removed,
handcuffed and put on the ground. A search of the car revealed
a potted decorative plant and 'salamura' brine leaves used for
pickling. The driver, in tears, lamented that "I don't have a license
so I got scared and drove off. Now look what's happened to me!"
