Conspiracy theorist.
Murathan Öztürk (19) hit and killed flower-seller Mehmet
Emin Kaya (34) when Özturk's car jumped the curb on
Bağdat Avenue in Kadıköy on 11 July. Öztürk evaded arrest
for 87 days before surrendering to authorities and has now
received a 7-year prison sentence.
Where have all the flowers gone...
Öztürk, who's drivers license will be withheld for 2 years
months (!), defended himself as follows: "the reason the press
has hounded me so badly is that I was the president of the AK
Party Youth Arm. Because I had AK Pary pictures and photos of
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the trunk of my car they
launched a lynch campaign against me."
This is, of course, the same Öztürk who resisted surrendering to
authorities for 87 days, who cut his hair to disguise himself, who
avoided drugs and alcohol testing and who obtained a 'no alcohol'türkçe
report from a private hospital that turned out to be a fake.
Bağdat Avenue is the main drag in Kadıköy district of Istanbul.

Bodyguards by the numbers - President Erdoğan set the tone.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu planned to go to Kahramanmaraş
yesterday to commemorate the 96th anniversary of the liberation of
the city from enemy (French) occupation. In anticipation of his visit,
100 security police (!) were sent on a Turkish Airlines flight to take the
necessary security precautions.
However, Davutoğlu cancelled the trip to Kahramanmaraş because he
had to attend the funeral of former President Abdullah Gül's father-in-
law in Istanbul instead. CH Party (opposition) parliamentarian Ali
Öztünç, who was boarding the 1225 flight from Ankara to Gaziantep,
revealed the news about the 100 security police.
Throwing off the French yoke in 1920.
In remarks made to Sözcü, Öztünç stated that "I never saw such a
thing. Why does he need so many policemen? Aren't there any police
in Kahramanmaraş?" Öztünç also noted that the 100 security police
were allowed to use the VIP lounge at the airport. He mentioned the
2012 directive from President Erdoğan restricting the use of the VIP
lounge to the President, the head of Parliament, the Prime Minister and
the heads of opposition parties, the army chief of staff, ministers and
senior judges.
