"It was a great plan but somehow something went wrong!"
In Istanbul last Tuesday at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Ruqsat J.,
who was babysitting three-year-old S.C., brought the child to her
parents' café in Ataköy's 5th section. After chatting for a bit, Ruqsat J.
set out to bring S.C. to her home but she was attacked en route and
the child was kidnapped (!).
Police checked camera images and determined that S.C. was brought
to a house in Kağıthane. The police then raided nine addresses
simultaneously and found S.C. sleeping at one of the raided locations.
Cevher K, his cousin Osman K. and their friend Mustafa B. were
taken into custody. S.C. was brought to a hospital for a check-up and
was found to be in good condition.
S.C. was returned to her parents, who thanked the police for rescuing
their daughter within 7 hours. In his statement to police, Cevher K.
explained that "we have a 'börek' shop across from that family's
café. We have some debts so I figured I could pay the debts with
the ransom money, which I was about to demand when I got caught." (!)
