Famous actor Sylvester Stallone has shared news on his social media
account about the use of 'Rocky Balboa' choreograpy at a recent
football match between Istanbul arch-rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
The 71 year-old actor mentioned the match to his more than 4 million
followers.
The use of the phrase "Stand Up! They look big because you are kneeling!"
in the choreography raised hackles in some circle in Turkey who linked
the phrase to words once spoken by Fethullah Gülen, accused of
masterminding the 15 July 2016 coup attempt in Turkey. An investigation
has been ordered by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım into the Galatasaray
club's involvement in the incident.
In addition, the fact that there is a 'Rocky Balboa' statue in Philadelphia
prompted some to see a deeper connection because of Gülen's long-time
residence in the same state, Pennsylvania.
Gülen reportedly makes frequent pilgrimages to the 'Rocky'
statue in Philly from his lair in Saylorsburg PA.
