                     Harun Bey relaxing (whew!) poolside.

Harun Yılmaz, who lives in Antalya's Aksu district and works in farming,
took leave last week and went to Manavgat with his family for a vacation.
However (!), fires erupted in Manavgat and when Yılmaz saw the flames
heading for his residence he put his wife, 3 children and his grandmother,
who suffers from Alzheimer's, into his car and tried to get away.

Yılmaz drove along a road with fires burning on either side and then he
unknowingly turned into a dead-end street.  The flames were coming up
from behind Yılmaz when he noticed a home.  He quickly got all his
family members over the fence and into the swimming pool.  As the flames
came even closer and the heat intensified, Yılmaz put his children in and
out of the pool water, as he tried to calm them.

After hours of waiting, the fire burned down the woods surrounding the
house, which was burned too, but the flames spared the pool.  Yılmaz
declared that "if it hadn't been for this pool, we would have all died.
In my village there are only five houses left standing."
