A Rip-tide is nothing by comparison.
Citizens who entered the Black Sea on the morning of 28 July at Sofular
beach in Şile, Istanbul, noticed some rather large metal objects in the
water and alerted the Gendarmerie. At first, the objects were thought to
be mines but they turned out to be cannon shells (!).
Enlisted to search for shells, in lieu of dolphins.
A team of SAS commandos (like U.S. Navy SEALS) came to Sofular
and found 28 cannon shells 1-1.5 meters deep in the water, about 10
meters from the shore. The commandos took the shells ashore, but it is
thought there may be more of them, so a search continues.
Sofular beach has been closed to citizens and the cannon shells will be
transported to the SAS Group Command for destruction.
