A horrible murder has occurred in Bartın. Şükrü Kesgin (38)
worked at a fruit stand in a local market. When his brother Mutlu
Kesgin didn't hear from Şükrü, he went to look for his bachelor
brother at his house in the Kemerköprü neighborhood on Monday
afternoon.
When there was no answer to his knock, Mutlu broke into the
house and found blood stains on the floor so he called police.
As the investigation proceeded police determined that the last
people Şükrü had contact with were Hulusi G. and Sercan A.,
both of whom were taken into custody.
The two suspects told police that last Saturday Şükrü had made
sexual advances toward them, which prompted them to first beat
him and then stab him to death. The two then cut off Şükrü's legs
and stuffed his body into a barrel, which they threw into the Kanlı
River on Sunday morning. On Saturday, the suspects sold Şükrü's
cellphone to a local phone store, as confirmed by store video.
Yesterday morning police retrieved the barrel with Şükrü's body
in it from the Yalı location of the river.
