Torture victims Ali and Hulud H. and their inhospitable host,
along with a fake city sign - the opposite of a welcome mat.

Istanbul narcotics police determined that drug dealer Suat Ş.,
who plies his trade in Fatih, Istanbul, built a house within
the historic Silivri Kapıkale Walls.  A sign in the name of the
Fatih Municipality placed as a distraction in front of the house,
which even has parquet floors, reads "We apologize for any
disturbance the Public Works Department may have created".

The police raided the house and took Suat Ş. into custody,
along with 10 other suspects, two of whom were women.
During the police operation they discovered Syrian Ali H.
tied to the wall with a dog leash. Ali H. had refused to sell
drugs for the gang and his wife Hulud H. was found in the
house, as well.

It was revealed that Hulud H. had been raped repeatedly for
days by the gang members in front of her husband's eyes. The
couple had been left without food or water for days and Ali H.'s
foot had been burned with a flame from a picnic gas tube.
Ali H. was taken to a hospital for treatment of gangrene.

Found in the house were two pump-action rifles, three revolvers,
59 grams of hashish in 20 packets, 89 grams of metamphetimine
in 25 packets, 549 grams of hashish and 1,155 TL (about 500
USD). The house had secret entrances and parquet floors,
hidden cameras and internet access. Historic, broken up coffins
were seen in the garden within the walls. The house was sealed
after the operation.

For those of you with good eyesight, Silivri Kapıkale
Avenue can been seen at left-center of the Fatih district map.

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 16 August 2015)

Adnan Yarasa Adam mı
Adnan denies it, but the resemblance is uncanny...

A masked crusader labled the 'Bromley Batman' who protects
the public from street crime in Bromley, southeast  of London,
is said to be a native Turk personal trainer named Adnan
Tatlıcıoğlu (26). According to The Sun newspaper, last week
in Cornwall two thugs who tried to  mug a businessman were
beaten up by 'Batman'. It has been determined that Tatlıcıoğlu
was on vacation in the same city at the time (Hmmmmmmm).

The newspaper used a picture of Tatlıcıoğlu wearing a 'Batman'
t-shirt in its story and on his Facebook page Tatlıcıoğlu has a
picture of Superman and a message saying "I fight crime
everywhere." The newspaper reported that Tatlıcıoğlu denied
being the 'Bromley Batman' but 95% of his friends are sure
that it is him.

Last June in Bromley a businessman threatened with knives
by a group of youths was rescued by a masked man. In February
a woman reported that a masked hero had saved her from a
pickpocket. And in March a woman in Greenwich stated that
she was saved from a rapist by a 'super hero'.

Giving New Meaning to "Gotta Catch My Plane!"

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 14 August 2015)

Well, who could wait for the next flight to Batna?

Algerian Chiha Djallal (29) threw Atatürk Airport in
Istanbul into chaos when he chased after the plane he
had just missed boarding.  Djallal had fallen asleep
while waiting for the flight to Batna, Algeria, and did
not hear the boarding announcement.

When he awoke and saw the waiting area was empty
he panicked and ran toward the boarding ramp door,
only to find it locked. Undaunted, Djallal grabbed an
object, broke through the door and found his way on
to the runway apron.

By this time, Turkish Airlines flight TK-1405 for
Algeria had left the gate and was taxiing toward the
runway. As Djallal ran after the plane he was intercepted
by security officials and handed over to the airport police.

In his statement, Djallal explained that "my family is
waiting for me in Algeria. I jumped on to the apron because
I have to get there."  Djallal promised to pay for any damage
he caused and asked officials for help in getting to his
homeland as soon as possible.

Cool Cats Keep Cool With Ice Cream

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 13 August 2015)

Ayılana gazoz kedilere dondurma
Could be a spokescat for Good Humor.

Van cats (white with one amber and one blue eye) under
protection at the Cat House (!) of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University
are being fed ice cream to keep them cool in the hot summer
weather.  The cats with their white coats and sensitive skin are
adversely affected by the heat

Because ice cream has a lot of calcium it is good for the cats'
bones but too much of it causes tonsilitis and problems in the
upper respiratory area. Mindful of these drawbacks, the cats'
keepers give them specific amounts of ice cream on very hot
days.
