(Hürriyet Newspaper, 7 December 2023)

                                          It works!

In Beykoz, Istanbul, female health workers noticed a light shining from
a point where the wall met the floor in their break room.  When one of
the women went to the men's break room on the other side of the wall
she saw an internet tablet in a portion of the room closed off by a large
leather saddle-bag. She called the police and complaints were filed by
D.Y. and H.A.

After an investigation, police took ambulance driver S.U. into custody.
In the course of their investigation police found that a tiny camera
was attached to the tablet and that the camera had been pushed through
the wall to view the goings-on in the womens' break room.  S.U.
admitted that the camera and the tablet belonged to him but he claimed
that he was only trying to see if it worked (!), rejecting all charges.
He was released after giving his statement but has been relieved of duty.

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 6 December 2023)

The punch he claimed wasn't, was.

In Karabağlar, Izmir, on 22 June, auto painter Sedat Necmi Gültiren (62)
was eating in a restaurant with his daughter and his 10-year-old
granddaughter.  After the meal, as Gültiren was paying the bill, his
granddaughter went outside to get into their car.

By mistake, the little girl got into a similar-looking car belonging to
construction firm owner Nihat Pekyen (45).  Seeing this from his
table in the same restaurant, Pekyen raced out to his car and began to
strike the little girl (!).  Gültiren saw what was happening and intervened
to protect his granddaughter.  An argument ensued between Gültiren and
Pekyen, who punched the grandfather in the face and chest.  Gültiren
fell to the ground and 8 days later he died.

Pekyen was arrested and charged with murder, with a sentence of from
12 to 16 years requested by the public prosecutor.  The autopsy report
stated that Gültiren died from "broken bones, head trauma and resulting
complications."

In his defense, Pekyen said that while he was eating with his fiancé  he
saw someone he didn't recognize in his car and tried to get the little
girl out of it.  When Gültiren intervened Pekyen said that the
grandfather attacked him so he only pushed him in response.  Pekyen's
punches, though, were captured on video images from the scene. (!)

Answer: punch the other guy in the face first and
knock him out.

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 5 December 2023)

                                    M.Y.-the-elder

The evening before last on Mintaş Street in the Yenişehir neighborhood
of İzmit in Kocaeli province, M.Y.'s daughter fled to her father's house
following an argument with her husband Mustafa S.  Soon after, Mustafa
S. and his brother Osman S. went to the house of his father-in-law M.Y.
to talk with his wife, who had taken refuge there.

In the course of their "conversation", Mustafa S. pulled out a knife and
attacked his wife.  Seeing his daughter wounded in her hand by Mustafa
S.'s knife, M.Y. shot both Mustafa S. and his brother Osman S. with a
revolver.  The brothers, both seriously wounded, were taken to a
hospital for treatment.

Police arrived at M.Y.'s house and took him and his son, also M.Y. (!),
into custody.  In an effort to protect his father from being charged,
M.Y.-the-younger took responsibility for shooting the "S." brothers but
police were able to determine that, in fact, it was M.Y.-the-elder who
had shot the "S." brothers.

                                   M.Y.-the-younger.

After processing at the police station, M.Y.-the-elder was put under
house arrest and M.Y.-the-younger was released under judicial
supervision.  Meanwhile, Mustafa S. remains in critical condition.

For those wanting to visit the ailing Mustafa S., he's
probably in one of these hospitals in Yenişehir...

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 4 December 2023)

"Yakaşıklı güvenlik" and "Xorto" - phenoms with ardent
followers.  You may ask "why?"  It's a mystery.

In Esenyurt district of Istanbul yesterday at about two-thirty in the
afternoon, a meeting occurred between the admirers of social media
phenoms "Yakışıklı güvenlik" (Muhammet Sürmeli) and "Xorto"
(Burak Taşkıran).  However (!), during the engagement a disturbance
broke out when someone touched Taşkıran's hair and said something
rude to him.

The situation became worse when knives were drawn and one person
was stabbed.  Police intervened to quell the disturbance.  Sürmeli
posted on social media about the incident, saying "Unfortunately, the
disturbance stained the name of Esenyurt even more than it has been.
People say that Esenyurt is a swamp, anyway.  Some idiots whose
identities we don't know stabbed "Xorto"'s friend.  He went to the
hospital and I understand he's doing well."

Make it your career!

                               Instant gratification.

In Çukurova district of Adana province, on 25 November at three-thirty
in the morning, Hakan Ö. (19) was able to start up a racing motorcycle
worth 200,000 TL (about $7,000) that belongs to B.Ç.  After touring
around on the motorcycle for two kilometers, Hakan A. left it in another
apartment house's garden, making sure to wipe his fingerprints off the
bike.

A while later, Hakan Ö. stole the motorcycle belonging to Ö.D. in the
Güzelyalı neighborhood and began another tour.  However (!), police
stopped him on the road and brought him to the police station.  In his
statement, Hakan Ö. explained "I was under the influence of alcohol.
As I was walking along, I saw the motorcycle, liked it and stole it."  (!)

These phenoms can't stay outta trouble!

Last night on Şehit Yılmaz Argon Avenue in Gebze district of Kocaeli
province, two people wearing motorcycle helmets took a video of a
car dealership belonging to Muhammet Aka and then unloaded a
fuselage of bullets on the store.  The suspects then posted the video on
social media (!) in which they first said "greetings to my older brother
K.A.  May his sword be sharp!", after which they opened fire on the
dealership, shattering the store's windows.

Coincidentally (or not), the day before the above incident, social media
phenom Ece Ronay claimed that her ex-husband's cars were on display
in the dealership that was subsequently attacked.  In her social media
post, Ece hanım said in reference to her ex-husband "two of his cars
are now on display at the M.A. car dealership in Gebze.  He put these
cars in the dealership out of fear because he told those guys 'I have
no money!' and wanted to avoid trouble if they found out about his
cars."

As for Muhammet Aka, he told reporters that "the cars Ece Ronay is
talking about are not in our dealership.  We've filed a complaint with
the concerned authorities."

In happier days...

"Beat & Release": Woman Pursued by Deviant Stops Taxi for Help; Luckily, Public Prosecutor Was Passenger, in Kadıköy

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 2 December 2023)

Good thing she didn't take the bus that day.

Last July in Kadıköy, Istanbul, Kübra K. was walking along the street,
heading home.  She noticed that a man was pursuing her and quickened
her pace. Nevertheless, Mustafa Erdoğan (34) caught up to her and took
her by the arm.  Kübra K. was able to break free but Erdoğan again
caught her and tried to embrace her, saying "I'm going to take you to
my home." (!)

Some bystanders took notice of the incident and made a fuss, allowing
Kübra K. once again to break free.  However, Erdoğan relentlessly
pursued her so she jumped in front of a taxi and pleaded with the driver
to help her get away from Erdoğan, who asserted to the taxi driver that
"she's my girlfriend!" and prevented Kübra K. from getting into the
taxi.

Sometimes you just gotta be lucky.

However (!), lucky for Kübra K., but unluckily for Erdoğan, the rider
in the taxi was public prosecutor Ayşe Gül Gürer, who works in the
Prevention of Violence Against Women department in the Anatolian
Public Prosecutor's office (!).  Ayşe hanım identified herself to Erdoğan,
demanded to see his ID and had him taken into custody by police.

In his statement, Erdoğan claimed that he was just trying to "help"
Kübra K. but his actions were misinterpreted (!).  Nevertheless,
although Erdoğan was barred from leaving Turkey, he was released
(!!!).

Evidentiary photo of deviant Erdoğan blocking taxi...

In any event, the subsequent indictment prepared against Erdoğan
asked for a sentence of from 6.5 to 17.5 years in jail  for "simple
sexual harassment" and "kidnapping with sexual intent."

"Beat & Release": Whoops! 12-Inch Bandage Left in Woman's Abdoman For 2 Years After Cesarian Delivery, in Antalya

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 1 December 2023)

                                    Unwelcome implant.

In Antalya in 2021, Y.S. (32) went to a private hospital to give birth to
her daughter. However, after the cesarian delivery, Y.S. experienced
vomiting and pain so she went back to the hospital and remained there
for 12 days because of her intestinal complaints.  During this time, her
daughter was separated from her and instead of her mother's milk, she
was nourished with regular baby food.

Upon her release from the hospital, Y.S. began to suffer pains from an
infection in her stitches, but Dr. D.A. dismissed her complaints as normal
following a cesarian delivery.   Nevertheless, for the next two years Y.S.
experienced these pains from time to time and the infection continued.
Getting no satisfaction from the private hospital, two months ago she
went to Antalya Training and Research Hospital for a second opinion.

The new doctor had a tomography taken of Y.S. and discovered a
30-centimeter-long (nearly 12 inches) bandage that was forgotten during
the cesarian operation (!).  This blunder was determined to have been
the cause of Y.S.'s two years of suffering.

The private hospital's administration announced that the matter is being
looked into. (!)
