In Istanbul, A.G., codenamed Tacik Azra, the 'emir' of an ISIS-linked
organization whose members are of Tajik, Uighur, Uzbek and Kazakh
origin, has been arrested.  The day after the New Years Eve Reina nightclub
massacre, police received a tip about the Uzbek A.G./Tacik Azra.  As
police searched for the Reina killer, they determined the location of the
house in the Zeytinburnu section of Istanbul where A.G. was hiding.

On 2 January police entered the house and found numerous passports
and military camouflage equipment.  The Uzbek 'emir' A.G. took care
of ISIS militants coming from Central Asia and facilitated their entry
into Syria and Iraq.  Besides A.G., three other individuals were arrested.
An investigation is continuing to determine whether or not A.G. had
a connection to the Reina killer Abdulgadir Masharipov.

Meanwhile, police have determined that Talip Akkurt, a member of
ISIS's Turkish execution team in Syria, codenamed 'Yaşar', left Istanbul
by car in February 2016 for Gaziantep and then entered Syria.  S.B., the
person who facilitated the transit to Syria of Akkurt, who produced
propaganda videos for ISIS,  has been arrested.

Defense'  group for their involvement in hanging banners around
Ankara that target gays.  The banners read: "If you see someone
doing the work of Lot's tribe kill him and his partner."

The investigation into the group began when authorities received
a tip that the group's Facebook page "openly incited people to
kill gays."   The indictment related to the 'Young Islamic Defense'
group identified the suspects as Ersin Miraç K., Umut Ömer B.,
Adem D., Muhammed K., and Muhammed Erer Ö.  The suspects

Actually, just doing field research re his case files.

When police got on the trail of a drug gang in Diyarbakır an incredible
scandal emerged.  Police received a tip that the drug gang would
transport narcotics to western provinces from the rural areas of Sur
district.  Surveillance of gang members Rauf Kurt and Halil Çetin's
phone calls revealed frequent conversations with Major Case Court
Judge Halil Soğuksu, who was being transferred from Hınıs district
in southern Erzurum province to Bilecik in northwestern Anatolia.

Police determined that suspect Kurt planned to take narcotics he had
stored in Kavaklıdere village to western Turkey with Judge Soğuksu,
so as to avoid scrutiny by police and Gendarmerie units along the
route.  Judge Soğuksu went from Hınıs to Muş with suitcases and his
personal items and from there to Sur district of Diyarbakır where
he met Kurt, who had the narcotics.

Soğuksu was driving a luxury car belonging to the other suspect (Çetin)
when on 24 January the car was stopped by police on the Diyarbakır-
Şanlıurfa highway.  The police search was observed by a public
prosecutor and 90 kilograms of vacuum-packed narcotics were found
under the suitcases in the car.

Turns out Soğuksu's a big fan.

In the judge's hand bag police found SİM cards belonging to other
people, 2.5 grams of powder narcotics and 14,100 TL (about 3,000
USD), said to be the payment for his services from the gang.
Soğuksu and Kurt were brought to Diyarbakır and Çetin was found
and arrested, as well.

In his statement, Soğuksu claimed that because of his new assignment
to Bilecik he left Hınıs and went to Diyarbakır to bid farewell to Kurt,
who he said was the brother of a doctor Soğuksu had met when he
worked in İdil district of Şırnak province.  Soğuksu added that "when
Kurt said he was going to Istanbul I decided to go with him.  They
picked me up on the Lice highway in a car.  Then we went to Mardin
so I could visit my mother-in-law (!).  I don't have anything to do with
drugs."

When police asked Soğuksu why he was going to Mardin on the
Şanlıurfa highway (the opposite direction), the judge did not respond.
Soğuksu (51), who is married and the father of two children, told
police in regard to the powder substance found in his bag: "I used
some of the crystal powder.  I don't know what was in it but my
girlfriend (!) told me it would increase my sexual performance.  I
didn't use any other narcotic substance."

Traces of narcotics were found in Soğuksu's blood.  He and the two
other suspects were charged with "trading in narcotics".

FETÖ expecting a percentage of the take.

The remarkable incident occurred in Sultanbeyli, Istanbul, at a
jewelry store there. Thieves entered a bank that had been closed
down because of its ties to FETÖ (Fethullah Gülen Terror
Organization).  Because the bank's camera system was no longer
in use, the robbers were able to drill through the bank's wall to
an adjacent jewelry store unimpeded and unobserved.

Once in the jewelry store, the thieves took 7 kilograms of gold
worth 900,000 TL (about 250,000 USD).  The next day, store
owner Mehmet Usun realized what had happened and called
the police, who are now pursuing the robbers.

Sahte diploma Nevşehir FETÖ soruşturmaları
Shaking her head rapidly, Hülya hanım foiled the photographer.

In the aftermath of the 15 July coup attempt, investigations were
begun to examine people working in government offices who
might have ties to FETÖ.  In the course of one such probe in Konya
investigators determined that Hülya Ö., a teacher for 20 years and
a deputy principal for one year, did not have a university diploma.

Administrative and judicial investigations into Hülya hanım's past
were initiated and an effort is underway to make her pay back 20 years
of salary (!).  She began her 'career' in Nevşehir in 1996 and, after
teaching in various provinces, was assigned to Konya in 2004.  For
the past year, Hülya hanım has been the deputy principal at the
Adil Karaağaç Professional and Technical Anatolia High School in
Selçuklu district.

According to one of Hülya hanım's former students, "Hülya Hoca's
classes were a breeze. She didn't like to explain the lessons.  In fact
we never saw her explain a lesson.  Whenever we would ask
questions she'd tell us to look in the book.  Her tests were real easy,
too.  Noboby ever got left back or even got a bad grade from her."

Adele's Noticeable Turkish Accent Explained

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Milliyet Newspaper, 25 January 2017)

'Adele’in babası benim'
Adele and Dad (?) - hands certainly look alike.

Mehmet Asar (52), a 'saz' (sort of a Turkish banjo) player and
folk singer who lives in Bodrum district of Muğla province, has
made an interesting claim.  In an interview the British pop star
Adele said that she is of Turkish heritage.  Now, Asar says that he
is her father.

Adele was born in 1988.  Her mother Penny Adkins came to
Gümbet in Bodrum in 1987 for a holiday and Asar claims that
he met Adkins, who told him she was a nurse, while he was
driving a taxi in Bodrum in those days.

Asar explained that "I showed Penny Adkins and her friends
around Bodrum's bays and Pamukkale for two weeks. We
liked each other. We were together for two weeks. Then she
extended her vacation and a month later she returned to England.
After that she came to Bodrum twice and she wanted me to
come back with her to England.  But I wanted to live in Bodrum,
not England.  We spoke on the phone but in those days it was
both difficult and expensive to make phone calls.  The dates
I was with her mother coincide with Adele's birthday exactly."

      What happens in Bodrum...

Asar is working now as a folk musician. He says that "after I
met Adele's mother I never married.  I spent my years thinking
about her.  We spoke on the phone a few times.  Because I
want Adele to know the truth I had to make this announcement.
I invite both Adele and her mother to come to Bodrum.  I think
I'm Adele's father, I feel it.  If Adele wants, I can have a DNA
test done.  The most important thing that I want made known
is that I don't have any expectations at all.  I'm in a good place.
I just want my daughter to know the truth."
