CHP Parliamentarian Tur Yıldız Biçer has reacted to the remarks of
preacher İhsan Şenocak who railed against women wearing jeans and
plucking their eyebrows with tweezers in a mosque the other day.
Şenocak declared that "doesn't it just tear your heart up to see your
daughter wearing jeans on the street and to school? If an 18 year-old
girl who plucks her eyebrows goes to a university in that manner
and it doesn't tear you up then you'll go to hell on Judgement Day."
Biçer said that such remarks were unacceptable and she filed a
criminal complaint against Şenocak for 'hatred and segregation',
'insulting', 'inciting the public to malice and enmity' and 'violating
the constitution'.
To emphasize her point, Biçer sent Şenocak a pair of women's jeans
and a tweezer by courier, saying "we won't tolerate those who bemoan
our girls wearing jeans but who remain silent when our children are
raped. We denounce those that think like Şenocak, who would drag
us into darkness and blacken the future for our girls. Go ahead and
wear jeans girls if you want!"
His own jeans are a bit too tight.
