Matching the drug barons' lifestyle - for cover purposes, of course.

Policeman Hüseyin Tayfun Üçgül, driving a Maserati automobile
registered in his wife's name, broke the leg of lawyer Fatih Uzun
because Uzun passed him on the highway.  Üçgül is assigned to the
narcotics team (!) in Dalaman district of Muğla province.

According to an indictment prepared by the Manisa public prosecutor,
Istanbul lawyer Fatih Uzun was driving with his wife and two children
from Izmir to Istanbul on 22 April.  Around Soma, he saw two drivers
arguing with each other in front of him.  Uzun wanted to avoid this
confrontation and passed Üçgül's Maserati.  Enraged, Üçgül pursued
Uzun and cut him off, forcing him to stop on the shoulder of the
highway.  Then, Üçgül beat up Uzun, breaking his leg in two places. (!)

A sentence of 6 years 10 months has been requested by the prosecutor
for Üçgül and the first hearing will be held on 3 July.

Uzun explained to Hürriyet that "It was the Ramazan holiday and we
were returning to Istanbul as a family with my wife and our two small
children.  Because I wanted to avoid the arguing drivers I passed the
Maserati, whose driver was incensed by this, caught up to me and
forced me to the side of the road. Then he beat me up, breaking my
leg in two places below my knee using an attack technique. My kids
were screaming as he terrorized us."

"I wanted a blood sample taken from him and the camera images from
his car seized but the prosecutor wouldn't do either of these.  Üçgül
even had a gun in his waistband and his wife and three children were
with him.  He intentionally crippled me - now I have to use a cane to
walk.  Lots of information about him is pouring in now.  He seems to
be quite a bad fellow.  The Maserati, worth 30 million TL (over $1
million), is registered in his wife's name and they live in a villa and
stay in luxury hotels.  Yet, he's supposed to be just a regular policeman.
There needs to be an investigation about him.   An administrative
inquiry is underway."

Üçgül has worked in police narcotics and smuggling offices since
2017 and now has a very luxurious lifestyle.  He has been involved
in many judicial incidents and, as a result, he is under investigation
as a suspect. Uzun has requested that MASAK (Turkish Treasury
Dept.'s financial crimes unit) look into Üçgül's finances and that he
be fired from the police force.
