Whoops!
A Cessna 172 airplane, belonging to 19 Mayıs University Aeronautics
and Space Technologies Research and Implementation Center (Uzaytem),
could not land at Çarşamba Airport in Samsun yesterday morning
because of high winds.
Ecenaz hanım beforehand. Please, no 'woman driver' jokes.
As Ecenaz Kalyoncu, the solo pilot, touched down on her second
attempt the plane's propeller touch the ground and the plane somersaulted.
Fortunately, Kalyoncu was only slightly injured in the accident.
Whoops!
However, the fire truck heading for the accident scene to deal with the
possibility of a fire breaking out also somersaulted (!), leaving AREF
team members Ömer Pat and Mustafa Arıcı injured. Both were in good
condition following treatment.
Samsun province. Çarşamba is in the east on the coast.
