From Russia with...love?
He asked AI, and when it said 'no bomb,' he put the drone in the trunk
of his car. Ali Çabuk, 63, who saw a drone washed ashore in Karasu
district of Sakarya, sent a photo of it to the artificial intelligence
application on his mobile phone. After receiving the answer 'no bomb'
from the application, Çabuk loaded the drone into the trunk of his car
with his wife and grandson and took it home.
However (!), he realized the danger of what he had done after being
warned by Genmdarmerie bomb disposal teams. Since the drone,
which was determined not to be carrying explosives, did not fit in the
Gendarmerie vehicle, it was taken to the Gendarmerie outpost in Çabuk's
vehicle.
The drone is no doubt connected to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war
- a number of such drones have washed up on the Black Sea shore
in Turkey.
Instead of seashells...drone shells.
Ali Çabuk explained what happened: "As we were walking along the
shore, we noticed an object and thought it might be a drone. Right
away I asked AI about it via the app on my phone. In response, AI
told me that the drone had come from Russia but was not carrying
a bomb.
Ali bey decided to put the drone in his truck and take it home.:
"It was very heavy and I couldn't lift it myself so my wife and
grandson helped me. Then I called the Gendarmerie and they
determined that it was harmless. But, in any case, the Gendarmerie
took the drone away - in my truck because it wouldn't fit in
theirs." (!)
Karasu is at far upper right on the Black Sea coast.
