The first thing they learn is that 'hindi' means 'turkey'.

Protests have sprung up at Jamia Millia İslamia University
in New Delhi over the lack of a Turkish teacher.  Based on
an agreement between the university and the Yunus Emre
Institute in Turkey, a Turkish teacher was supposed to be
sent to India for the semester beginning on 16 July.  But
for the first time since the agreement was signed in 2010,
no teacher was sent.

When the university's Turkish Language and Literature
Department's founder Dr. Mohsin Ali was relieved from
duty and sent to the Farsi institute, the students in the
department were left without a teacher and, after waiting
for 3 months, they began protesting at the beginning of
October.

About 170 students holding placards written in Hindi
and Turkish staged a protest in their department building.
The university responded on the 5th day of the protest
by announcing that 3 doctor-level teachers, all Indians
citizens, would be appointed to the department.

Each year 10 of these Indian students who have learned
Turkish come to Turkey for masters programs and all of
them were selected by Dr. Mohsin Ali.  However, those
who were not selected filed a protest against Dr. Ali,
accusing him of showing favoritism.  Consequently,
Dr. Ali was relieved of duty and sent to teach Farsi but
the students in the Turkish department now want him
returned.
