İ.G. lives in a flat in Istanbul's Beylikdüzü district that he rents from
bank manager Erdal İ. When Erdal İ informed İ.G. that he was
increasing the rent by 50% (!) İ.G. refused to comply. The two men
met at a café in İkitelli on 1 December to settle the matter.
However (!), during their negotiations a fight erupted, with Erdal İ.
whipping out a "falçata" (curved shoe knife) that he'd brought with
him and seriously injuring İ.G. and his friend İ.S. The wounded men
were taken to a hospital, while Erdal İ. was taken into custody and his
"falçata" seized. The hospitalized men remain in intensive care and
Erdal İ. has been jailed.
