We've seen this film before...
In Aksaray's Taş Pazar neighborhood yesterday at around 2 o'clock in
the afternoon Melike Arıbaş (15!) went to a relative's engagement party
with her family. Soon afterwards, Melike was shot in the head by her
ex-fiancé Muhammet Kılıç (22). Melike's father Doğanay Arıbaş was
also wounded in the head by Kılıç.
Father and daughter were taken to Aksaray Training and Research
Hospital, where Melike died and her father was treated for his wound.
Hearing the news of her daughter's death, mother Asiye Arıbaş had a
nervous breakdown.
Police quickly tracked down Kılıç and took him into custody. It turned
out that Melike and Kılıç became engaged a year ago but broke up
three months later. In his statement to police, Kılıç declared that "my
fiancé's family didn't want me so I fired the gun to intimidate them. I
couldn't bear to have my fiancé given to someone else!"
