The Turks would call him a "gazi".

A Greek Orthodox mass commemorating Christmas and Jesus's
baptism was held at the Ortaköy Ayios Fokas Greek Orthodox Church
in Istanbul yesterday.  Following the mass, participants gathered at the
Ortaköy pier to watch the traditional toss of the cross.  Seven
individuals dove into the cold Bosphorus water to retrieve the cross
and Nikolas Özdoğan (16) was the victor.

However (!) , when diving into the water İlia Davul knocked heads
with another diver.  He was taken by ambulance to Taksim Training
and Research Hospital for treatment.  Turkish Coast Guard units were
on hand during the ceremony.
