Maybe I'm Not as Attractive as I Think I Am

To most any woman, he's irresistible. Maybe not Germans, though.

German Karin Ellen Hitzel lived in a triplex apartment on Titreyengöl
Avenue in the Sorgun neighborhood of Manavgat, in Antalya
province.  At 8 P.M. on 8 July a friend found Hitzel lying motionless
under a tree in her garden.  Police found bone breaks on Hitzel's face,
nose, chin and neck.


     Couldn't bring herself to lower her standards.

Suspecting Hitzel's neighbor, seasonal construction worker Ş.A., in
connection with the murder, police began to investigate.  They found
that on 4 July Hitzel and Ş.A. drank alcohol in her garden and that
subsequently Ş.A. proposed that they engage in sex.  In response,
Hitzel said "haven't you looked in the mirror!" (!)  Ş.A. took umbrage
at this, hitting Hitzel with a rock and then strangling her. 

After the murder, Ş.A. covered Hitzel's body with grass and
supposedly fled on the bus to Hatay.  In fact, Ş.A. went to Kızıllı
village in Antalya's Kepez district, where police donned shepherds
outfits to catch Ş.A.  The day before yesterday, he and his friend Ö.Ç.
were captured as they tried to flee in a car.  Hitzel had lived in
Manavgat for 7 years and had a son and a daughter living in Germany.
