In the Toprak Kale quarter of Erzurum's Aziziye district,
tunnel workers found 3 catapult stones, each weighing
nears 1.5 tons (!).  The stones are thought to have been
used by the Mongols in their assault on eastern Anatolia
in the 13th century.
