The machines are laughing.
A woman named Prof. Dr. Ş.T., who works as an academic at a
university in Istanbul, and her colleague Prof. Dr. S.T. were friends
since high school. Their friendship developed into a romantic
relationship after August 2025.
However (!), Ş.T. wanted to end the relationship. S.T., who refused to
accept the breakup, began harassing Prof. Dr. Ş.T. by calling her
hundreds of times and sending emails. S.T. sent emails containing
defamatory information about Ş.T.'s private life to her family and to
the rector, dean, and faculty members of the university where she
worked, sharing false personal health data about Ş.T.
Prof. Dr. S.T. threatened Ş.T. with death using the line "Hasta la vista
baby" (!) from the movie "Terminator," spoken by Schwarzenegger's
character, and began blackmailing her with constantly increasing
amounts of money. Unable to withstand the persistent stalking, death
threats, blackmail, and severe insults from her ex-boyfriend, Prof.
Dr. Ş.T. filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public
Prosecutor's Office through her lawyer.
S.T to Ş.T:
Ş.T. stated in her testimony to the prosecutor's office that her former
boyfriend, S.T., threatened her with her daughter, ex-husband, and
profession. Ş.T. said, “I have no peace. He tried to take everything
from me – my academic life, my family life, everything I worked so
hard for over the years. There were days when he called me 90 times
in one night, sending emails until dawn. I am complaining about S.T.,
who ruined my life and financially and emotionally. I want him to
be punished.”
S.T., who gave a statement as a suspect in the investigation, denied
the accusations against him. In his statement, S.T. admitted to having
an emotional and sexual relationship with Ş.T., claiming that he
contracted a viral illness as a result. S.T. stated, “I did not threaten
or blackmail her. I may have said insulting words to her because of
the viral illness I contracted. I do not accept the accusations against me.”
The prosecutor's office, having completed the investigation, prepared
an indictment against the suspect S.T. for the crimes of 'blackmail'
and 'stalking,' requesting a prison sentence of 2 years and 6 months to
6.5 years. The case will be heard in the Istanbul Criminal Court of
First Instance in the coming days.
