No problem getting "altitude" on this flight.

Brazilian police conducted an operation against a Turkish jet owned by
businessman Şehmuz Özkan at Recife Airport. Hundreds of  kilograms
of cocaine were seized.  The CEO of the company the jet belongs to is
Özkan's sister Çiğdem Özkan, who was previously a candidate for the
AKP (ruling party).

As the result of the raid on the jet, 1,304 kilograms of cocaine in 25
suitcases were seized.  A Spanish passenger and the 4-person Turkish
crew were taken into custody.

According to flight information obtained by Sözcü, the flight from
Turkey to Brazil was made in a Gulfstream-4 aircraft with tail number
TC-GVA.  The plane departed from Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport
at 0730 hours on 1 August without any passengers and went to Riyad,
Saudi Arabia, where 16 passengers boarded.  The plane then took off
again at noon, en route to the city of Malaga in the Andalusia autonomous
region of southern Spain.

The following day, the plane left Malaga without any passengers at 1630
hours and landed first in Fortaleza, Brazil, and then in Rebeirao Preto in
the interior of Sao Paulo state.  There, a Spaniard name Gonzales Valdes
boarded the plane and after taking off again the plane landed at Recife for
immigration purposes.

                   "What's in it?"..."Just my toothbrush."

The opening of the suitcase at Recife, captured on video by Brazilian
police, was conducted in front of Valdes after the Turkish captain V.D. (!)
said the suitcases belonged to Valdes.  Police tested the powder they found
and determined that it was cocaine.  The plane's flight plan called for it to
fly to Brussels and then to the USA.

The CEO of ACM Air is Çiğdem Özkan, the sister of of Şehmuz Özkan,
the head of Istanbul-based ACM Holding.   Çiğdem Özkan competed
to become the AKP candidate for parliament from Diyarbakır.

"Fire & Rescue": Everyone Into the Pool!

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Milliyet Newspaper, 4 August 2021)

                     Harun Bey relaxing (whew!) poolside.

Harun Yılmaz, who lives in Antalya's Aksu district and works in farming,
took leave last week and went to Manavgat with his family for a vacation.
However (!), fires erupted in Manavgat and when Yılmaz saw the flames
heading for his residence he put his wife, 3 children and his grandmother,
who suffers from Alzheimer's, into his car and tried to get away.

Yılmaz drove along a road with fires burning on either side and then he
unknowingly turned into a dead-end street.  The flames were coming up
from behind Yılmaz when he noticed a home.  He quickly got all his
family members over the fence and into the swimming pool.  As the flames
came even closer and the heat intensified, Yılmaz put his children in and
out of the pool water, as he tried to calm them.

After hours of waiting, the fire burned down the woods surrounding the
house, which was burned too, but the flames spared the pool.  Yılmaz
declared that "if it hadn't been for this pool, we would have all died.
In my village there are only five houses left standing."

"Beat & Release": Holy Man With Social Media Savvy Beats Kids to "Cure" Them

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Milliyet Newspaper, 3 August 2021)

another holy man click here for a recent TNT report
about another one.

A self-proclaimed Iraqi "healer" named Molla Ali Kalak, also know as
"Mala Ali Kürdistani", came to Turkey and opened an office where he
"healed" people by smacking their feet with a bat (!).  With some 50
"patients" waiting at his door, the office was sealed by the police. Mala
Ali is being sought.

Mala Ali Kürdistani was arrested in Saudi Arabia and then released.  He
opened an office in Başakşehir, Istanbul, and via social media attracted
hundreds of people to come for "treatment".  However, when families
who brought their autistic children to Mala Ali Kürdistani for healing saw
his methods they complained and one of them recorded the "treatment" on
a cellphone camera, showing one of Kürdistani's assistant smacking the
child's feet with a bat.

Not just for Catholic school students anymore.

According to information obtained by DHA (news agency), for many
days people from various provinces and foreign countries, including
the USA, gathered in front of Kürdistani's Başakşehir office early in the
morning.  There was no sign for the office but, nevertheless, Kürdistani's
assistants took the prospective patients' names and phone numbers.
The assistants told those waiting that only a few would be able to see
Kürdistani right away, so they would be called when an opening arose.
Nevertheless, those waiting would not leave the front of the office.

                                      Tools of the trade.

After complaints were made to the public prosecutor, Başakşehir police
along with health teams, raided Kürdistani's office but he himself was not
there.  Police found bats, wood parts and a stretcher thought to have
been used in the "treatment", along with many books with photos of
Kürdistani in them.  In addition, certificates in the name of Ali Mahmood
Hasan Goran were found in the office, which was determined by health
officials to have no authority or license for providing health services.
There was, though, a sign behind the entrance counter that read "Beauty
salon services: skin car, eyebrow removal gel, etc."  The 300 TL cash
in the office safe was confiscated by police.

While the police were inside the office, at the front door Kürdistani's
supporters and complainants engaged in arguments.  One supporter
declared that "perhaps he'll give us health. Why would you complain
about that?"  A person with an autistic child shouted about Kürdistani
"he has knowledge and science. What about you?" He then tried to take
off the (COVID) masks of some of those waiting for Kürdistani.

In any event, the police and health officials wrote up a report about
their findings and had local officials seal the site.  This prompted those
waiting outside to leave.  Three people in the office were taken to the
Başakşehir police station to give statements, after which they were
released.  Efforts to apprehend Kürdistani are continuing.

                      The requisite "seal of approval".

Mustafa Kaplan explained why he went to Kürdistani's office: "I have
an autistic child.  I heard that this man Mala Ali Kürdistani had come to
Turkey and was healing people in Başakşehir.  We know that such methods
wouldn't do anything for autistic children but we wanted to see how he was
healing people.  When we entered the office I saw that the so-called holy
man was holding a child's heads and reading some things.  After that, the
holy man took the child to another room and began to hit the child's feet
with a 40-centimeter (15-inch) bat.  Subsequently, the holy man told the
family that this treatment would continue for a year so the child would
have to come every two months for a check-up.  This is how the so-called
holy man provides treatment and he gets 200 TL for it."

Another person with an autistic child, Filiz Dorğu, said she had come
across such "hope-sellers" many times:  "This time our 'hope-seller' was
Mala Ala Kürdistani who came from abroad.  He was run out of his own
country (Iraq) and arrested in Saudi Arabia. He continued in Uzbekistan.
He has many followers on social media and a lot of people believe him."

Continuing, Filiz hanım said that "I took my child to this man for treatment.
He wanted 200 TL.  Then I saw him smack the feet of another family's
child.  He wrote a prescription for the child and said he would provide
instructions over an instant messaging system."

One person who argued with the complainants declared that "no one can
mess with my beliefs.  If I want to believe in someone I will.  He may
very well have healed the child!"

Another person said he came to get medicine from Kürdistani, explaining
that "we went to see Kürdistani.  My child wasn't hearing so I brought my
child to him in Iraq.  We were going to go to Iraq again but the pandemic
started so we couldn't go.  Anyway, Kürdistani looked at my child and
gave us an appointment for two months later.  For the treatment, he read
some prayers first, then pulled my child's ears and hit him on the back
with a bat.  He wrote a prescription so I came to get it but he's not here.
The others ahead of me paid 1,400 for the medicine.  I don't know what
the medicine is but it's something like holiday candy."

"Beat & Release": That Haunting Refrain - 'After I'm Dead Will My Voice be Heard?!'

(Sözcü Newspaper, 2 August 2021)

She'd rather not connect the dots.

Sevil Kırmacı (43), who lives in Sakarya and works as an accountant
in a factory, filed for divorce from İ.K., a construction worker and
second-hand goods salesman, after 3 months of marriage.  On 26 July,
İ. K. came to the front of Sevil hanım's workplace and fired a rifle at
her office vehicle but she escaped unharmed.  After the incident, İ.K.
was given house arrest. (!)

Sevil hanım explained that "İ.K., driving a car that doesn't belong to
him, cut off our office vehicle and opened fire.  I sought protection
from the Gendarmerie there.  I just barely missed being killed. He
told the prosecutor 'I just wanted to scare her. If I'd wanted to kill her
I would have.' (!)"

"This was attempted murder, plain and simple.  Two weeks ago he
had his nephew fire 8 times at my sibling .  They were both arrested
but released.  I have filed 8 complaints and each time he's gone free.
There's nothing else I can do.  After I'm dead will my voice be heard?!"

"Climb & Rescue": Ukrainian Climbers Treated 33 Hours After Fall Near Rize

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 1 August 2021)

                         A long way from Odessa.

Two members of an 8-person group of mountain-climbers on a glacier
in the Kaçkarlar range in Rize's Çamlıhemşin district  fell into a rocky
area at about 9 o'clock on Thursday night.  When Ukranians Mykola
Shynkevych (45) and Maryna Shavkutina (35) lost their balance and
got stuck, two others from the group headed back to a valley where there
was cellphone coverage.

On Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock the group members contacted the Turkish
rescue center and teams from AFAD, UMKE and the Gendarmerie were
mobilized.  Some of the AFAD personnel were already in Rize for
flood relief.   After their arrival at the valley, the 22 rescuers had to walk
to the point where the women climbers had fallen because bad weather
prevented helicopter flights.

The rescuers passed through Mezovit Valley and reached the base of the
glacier, where they found the fallen climbers.  Last night at 1 o'clock,
the wounded climbers were taken on stretchers for a 5-hour trek to
Yukarı Kavron Valley and from there to Kaçkar State Hospital.
Shavkutina received treatment for a broken foot and Shynkevych for
a broken shoulder.  After 33 hours, the conditions of the injured climbers
was said to be good.

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 31 July 2021)

                                    One-stop-shopping.

Arzum Koyuncu, famous astrologer, writer and life coach, has filed a
criminal complaint with the Istanbul public prosecutor regarding Erken
Şavkın, whom Arzum hanım met with to discuss social media issues.

According to Azrum hanım, after giving Şavkın 2,000 TL (about $250),
he did no work for her.  However (!), Arzum hanım claims that Şavkın
somehow obtained her email password and stole her telephone list. One
of the phone numbers was that of Arzum hanım's friend Burcu P., who
lives in France.

Şavkın then posted Burcu P.'s phone number on social media as if Arzum
hanım had, with this message: "This is the number of my assistant Burcu.
She's an escort. Give her a call."  Şavkın then opened a fake social media
account, as if Arzum hanım was an escort herself.

The court ordered that Şavkın stay away from Arzum hanım for 1 month.(!)

Employee Planned to Spike Boss's Tea With COVID Spit in Adana

türkçe  links to original Turkish article

(Milliyet Newspaper, 30 July 2021)

Good thing the boss is a documented coffee-drinker.

In Adana, Ramazan Çimen paid 500 TL for spit from a COVID patient
in order to put the spit in his boss's tea. Last September, İbrahim Ünverdi,
who runs a car dealership, gave Çimen 215,000 TL from a car sale to
bring back to the dealership office.

However (!), Çimen disappeared with the money.  A few days later,
Çimen explained to Ünverdi over the phone that he used the money to
pay off a loan shark and hung up.  Ünverdi then learned from his other
employees that Çimen had bought the COVID spit and planned to put
it in Ünverdi's tea.

Çimen began sending threatening messages to Ünverdi and his family,
including this one: "I couldn't kill you with COVID but I'll shoot you
in the head instead."  On 10 February 2021, Çiman was taken into
custody and given house arrest. Ünverdi's lawyer filed a criminal
complaint saying the Çimen planned to kill Ünverdi with a "biological
weapon."   As a result, Çimen was arrested on 14 July and jailed.
