Zeki Oğuz, who lives in Germany and who is a partner in a restaurant in
Taksim Square in Istanbul, came to Istanbul last week. He was last seen
in Kemerburgaz in Eyüpsultan district before he disappeared. Oğuz's
friend informed police about this and, after reviewing security camera
footage, police determined that Oğuz was kidnapped from a market in
Kemerburgaz.
However (!), police noticed another aspect of the incident reflected on
the footage - the kidnappers, who arrived at the market in a minibus,
first surrounded the wrong person for kidnapping (!). Realizing it wasn't
Oğuz, they apologized and set him free. When the real Oğuz emerged
from the market the suspects bundled him into the minibus and made off.
Police are continuing their efforts to rescue Oğuz.
