A birthday to remember...or maybe to forget.

Yesterday at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon in Gebze, an armed
individual  entered the factory of the American firm P&G to protest
the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza and took seven workers hostage.

The attacker posted a picture of himself, dressed in Palestinian
garb, masked and carrying a bomb.  He was later identified as
İbrahim Y. (A.K.A. "İbrahim Why?"), who paints and decorates
buildings for a living (!).   He spray painted this message on the factory
wall: "Doors will be opened. In Gaza it's either prayers or death.",
accompanied by Turkish and Palestine flags.

                     His only weakness: birthday cake.

As the hostage drama continued, the hostages asked permission from
their captor to celebrate one of the hostage's birthday and permission
was granted, with a birthday cake being cut. (!)  The accompanying
video showed the hostages to be in good condition.

After 10 hours of drama, a police operation succeeded in capturing
İbrahim Y. alive.  Kocaeli Governor Seddar Yavuz explained that
"When he came out for a bathroom break we took advantage and
nabbed him without any harm coming to the hostages.  He had two
weapons but didn't fire either one of them.  Our men grabbed him
suddenly and "etkisiz hale getirdi" (neutralized him !).
