"Spin & Release": Driver's Fine for "Drift" Maneuver Nearly as Much As Car's Worth, in Fatsa

In Fatsa district of Ordu, a driver who performed a drift maneuver with 
his car was fined 140,000 TL (about $3,100), and his vehicle was 
impounded for 60 days. The vehicle is only worth about 165,000 TL 
(about $3,700) on the used-car market (!).

Last night, in Güngören Street, Ayazlı Neighborhood of Fatsa district, 
K.C.A. (26) caused alarm by performing a drift maneuver with his car, 
license plate 52 AHF 349. The driver fled, but police were dispatched 
to the area following a report. After investigation and pursuit, the police 
identified the driver as K.C.A. He was fined 140,000 TL. His vehicle 
was impounded for 60 days and towed to a parking lot. His driver's 
license was also confiscated for 60 days.
