Showing a little leg for the camera...
A person who was found to have staged a street interview in Adana
to boost his social media views was released on the condition that
he clean the courthouse mosque on Mondays and Fridays. (!)
Ibrahim T., a content creator on a virtual media account, asked two people
in Seyhan district during a street interview, "Are people from Istanbul more
hospitable or people from Diyarbakır?" However (!), respondent E.B. (17)
threatened İbrahim T., saying "People from Adana are more hospitable.
But don't dress like that again. I have an ankle bracelet (implying that
he is a dangerous criminal), I'll stab you all over," and showed what he
claimed was an electronic ankle bracelet.
İbrahim T. gets some part-time work to augment social media
activities.
Images shared on social media by I.T. sparked outrage. Seyhan District
Police Department teams, who launched an investigation into the incident,
detained Ibrahim T., who "explained" that they had staged the event to
gain more views and that the incident did not reflect the truth. Following
the proceedings, I.T. was referred to the courthouse on charges of "inciting
hatred and hostility or insulting the public." He was released on judicial
supervision by the court, but sentenced to cleaning the courthouse mosque
twice a week.
