"Beat & Release": Inept Stalker Shoots Self as Police Rescue Ex-Wife in Antalya

shooting himself, so be sure to get KADES."

In Antalya, Alper T.A. (40) was leaning on the door of the house 

where his ex-wife A.K. (35) was staying with a revolver in his hand.  

But  A.K. pressed the KADES (women's support app) button on her 

cellphone and a special police team arrived in 3 minutes to save her

from Alper T.A.

The incident occurred at about nine-thirty on the night before last in

a four-story apartment building in the Memurevleri neighborhood of

Antalya's Muratpaşa district.  A.K. has a restraining order against 

ex-husband Alper T.A. but he nevertheless showed up at her father's

house, pounding on the door with a gun in his hand.  Seeing this,

A.K. pressed the Interior Ministry's KADES button on her phone.

Failed first lesson of "Stalking.101":  Do not, under any

circumstances, shoot yourself."

However (!), as the police arrived at the scene, Alper A.T.'s gun 

discharged accidentally and wounded him in his leg.  Hearing the

gunshot, police warned onlookers to seek safety, and by means

of a fire department ladder, the police went to the roof, throwing

tear gas into the building to neutralize Alper A.T. , who was taken

to a hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound. (!)

Four days ago Alper A.T. had attacked A.T. with a knife so the 

police recommended she put the KADES app on her phone.  

This time, when he came with a gun and nearly kicked the door

down, A.T. was lucky to have KADES to save herself, as the 

police arrived just in time.
