Airport have come to light after Chaab disappeared in Istanbul
on 9 October. Chaab, second in command of the Arab separatist
movement Ahvaz, had lived in exile for 14 years in Sweden and was
the leader of the El Nida movement, as well.
Turkey's intelligence organization MIT and Turkish police determined
that Chaab was lured to Istanbul by his lover, Saberin Saiedi, who lives
in Iran and is an agent of SAVAMA, Iran's intelligence agency. Upon
Saiedi telling Chaab to "come, let's get married.", Chaab came to
Istanbul.
Behind the rendition was the famous Iranian drug baron Naci Şerifi
Zindaşti and his nephew Bahtiyar Fırat, who together with a 10-man
team kidnapped Chaab. In a joint MIT-police operation on 27
November, Fırat and 11 suspects were captured and 9 of them were
jailed.
SAVAMA agent Saiedi came to Istanbul a day before Chaab and
made contact with Fırat. She was last seen at Van Edremit Airport
on 10 October. The Turkish Justice Ministry has had a 'red bulletin'
for her arrest issued through Interpol.
England's Sky News TV showed pictures of Chaab arriving at
Istanbul Airport on 9 October. After clearing passport control, Chaab
entered a telephone kiosk, then boarded a taxi and went to a gas
station in Beylikdüzü. There, Chaab got into a white minibus. It is
thought that Chaab was lured to the gas station by Saiedi and then
drugged, tied up, blindfolded and taken to Van on an 18-hour road
trip. In Van, Chaab was transferred to another vehicle and taken into
Iran.
