Last July, the Nature Protection and National Parks Directorate
opened a tender for hunting mountain goats in Tunceli province.
However, because of the negative blowback, the tender was
canceled.
But this time the same directorate has authored another scandal. A
firm made an application to hunt Hızır goats, which are considered
sacred, in Tunceli and permission was given to an American named
Bradley Garrett Van Hoose.

Tunceli's communist mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu voiced his
opposition to the permit on social media, tweeting "for us every
living thing in nature is priceless. I'm talking to the person who
has come here to murder a mountain goat with a telescopic rifle:
tomorrow I'll be with the villagers and friends waiting for you."
After this firm warning, the American's permit was canceled but
not announced. Tunceli CHP (opposition party) parliamentarian
Polat Şaroğlu made the cancellation known to the public.
