Flat Earth's Antarctican Embrace

                            Earth, a.k.a. Planet Frisbee.

Doğukan Özkan, the president of the Duz Dünya Derneği (Flat Earth
Association claims that views of Antarctica in existing models of the
globe do not reflect reality so he is offering 100,000 TL (about $18,000)
to anyone who takes a photo of Antartica, which he claims is actually
a glacial mountain range that surrounds the Earth.

Özkan continues to defend his flat Earth theory, which is derided by
scientists.  He has already promised a 50,000 TL award to anyone
who can prove that the Earth is a globe and now he's offering 100,000
TL for a picture of Antarctica. 


                               Horizontal Space Cadet

Despite the invitation of Turkish astrophysicist Dr. Umut Yıldız, who
works for NASA,  for Özkan to tour NASA facilities, Özkan still
asserts that the photographs that NASA shows the world do not reflect
reality.  He declared that "there is a mass in the south that is called
Antarctica but in the flat Earth model it is actually ice mountains
that surround the Earth.  It is not really a continent."

"When we look at flight paths with today's technology, we see that no
flights pass over the Antarctica continent because it is technically
impossible to fly over a supposed continent that is not even there.  The
real Antarctica is the glacier mountain range around the Earth.  I'm
offering 100,000 TL to anyone that can prove this and our association
will pay the money on the spot." 


         How about equal time for the Square Earth Model!
