Son dakika...Akdeniz'de alarm! Türk savaş gemileri harekete geçti ...

Tensions between Turkey and Greece are rising in the eastern
Mediterranean Sea between the Greek islands of Rhodes and
Meis near the southwestern Turkish coast after Turkey issued a
'Navtex' maritime warning for the area the day before yesterday.

According to the 'Navtex', the oil exploration ship 'Oruç Reis',
along with the support vessels 'Ataman' and 'Cengizhan', will be
operating in the waters between Rhodes and Meis islands from
21 July to 2 August.  This prompted the Greek Navy to put its
fleet on alert, while around 20 Turkish Navy ships from the base
at Aksaz, near Marmaris, headed for the area and Turkish Air
Force F-16's flew around Meis Island.

A competing 'Navtex' was issued by Greece for the same area
but, in response, the Turkish Navy's Mobile Hydrography and
Oceanography Department issued two more 'Navtex' the night
before last (!), stating that "an unauthorized station (Larnaca)
issued a 'Navtex' for the Turkish Navtex Service area but only the
Antalya station is authorized to issue such a 'Navtex'.

The Turkish 'Navtex' added that "the 'Cyprus' mentioned in the
Larnaca Radio 'Navtex'  is not the same state that existed in 1960.
Consequently, Turkey will not recognize the South Cyprus Greek
Administration (SCGA) as 'Cyprus' in any way, shape or form nor
will Turkey allow its rights as stated in the 1960 guarantee agreement
for Cyprus to be violated.  The SCGA's efforts to legitimize its
illegal claims by means of Larnaca Radio station's MA46-266/10
'Navtex' are futile and will  never be accepted by Turkey."

Larnaca is on the southeast coast of Cyprus.  The
