TNT report about an Indian wedding in Bodrum.
A match made in heaven (approval pending).
Turkey has become one of the most preferred locations for Indian
weddings but the Dar-ul-Uloom Islamic Divinity Faculty recently
filed an objection about one of them.
Indian movie star and legislator Nusrat Jahan and businessman
Nikhil Jain were married in Bodrum on 19 June, at a cost of $1
million. However (!), the divinity faculty issued an Islamic 'fatwa'
(ruling) opposing the marriage, asserting that as a Moslem, Jahan
should not have married someone from another faith.
Müftü (Islamic scholar) Asad Kasmı stated that "all during the
marriage ceremony Jahan wore a 'sutra' and put on 'sindoor' (red-
orange cosmetic dust), niether of which are appropriate for Islamic
traditions. For her to marry someone from the Jain faith is an insult
to Islam."
