                      Not your traditional candy store.

In a raid on an illegally operating confectionery workshop in Esenyurt,
Istanbul, 9 tons and 400 kilograms (!) of jellybeans and various other
confectionery products, found to have been packaged under unsanitary
conditions, were destroyed.

Teams from the Esenyurt Municipality Police Department acted on a tip
regarding the unlicensed business located on 18th Street in the Zafer
neighborhood. The inspection revealed that production and packaging
processes were being carried out under completely unhygienic
conditions.

Following the detection of the situation, teams from the Esenyurt  district
Agriculture and Forestry Directorate also joined the investigation.
Authorities determined that the business lacked any official permits or
approvals, and that the production and storage areas used were far
from meeting health standards. During inspections conducted with the
assistance of food engineers, it was found that jelly candies and various
sweets, particularly those consumed by children, were being packaged
in unsuitable conditions. Consequently, a destruction order was issued
for a total of 9 tons and 400 kilograms (!) of products.

It's supposed to, anyway.

Footage captured by the body cameras of the municipal police officers
showed the products being stored and packaged in unhygienic
environments.  The sweets, loaded onto trucks by municipal teams,
were taken to the municipal waste facility and destroyed. The illegal
business was sealed and its operations terminated. Esenyurt Municipality
announced that inspections against businesses that threaten public health
will continue uninterrupted.

Meanwhile, in Reyhanlı district of Hatay province, two tons (!) of chips,
candy and chocolate were found to have lapsed expiration dates, so all
the products were thrown into a ditch by police teams and burned.

Must have been some "red hots" among the contraband.
