An idyllic scene.  What could possibly go wrong?

In the waters of the Sea of Marmara off Kalamış in Istanbul the day
before yesterday, a sea taxi hit a canoe and the two women in it fell
into the water.  The sea taxi's propeller nearly severed the left foot of
Neşe Yılmaz (50).  A sailboat nearby rescued the two women from the
sea, after which DAK-SAR (water rescue) teams arrived.

Neşe hanım had swallowed sea water so she was put in intensive care
and a tube inserted in her throat to allow her to breathe.  Meanwhile,
her dangling foot was stitched in place (!).  Neşe hanım remains in
intensive care.

The other woman who fell into the water from the canoe was Iranian
Rozita Einisarghin, who was taken to Göztepe Training and Research
Hospital, where her treatment in the brain surgery ward continues.
Rozita hanım's condition is said to be good.

The captain of the sea taxi, Ahmek Özkan, was taken into police
custody.
