"Beat & Release": Dope-on-a-Rope Kills Wife in Pamukkale

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 24 March 2021)

"Ain't no balcony high enough that can keep me from
gettin' to you!"

Meral Sivrikaya (50) was experiencing serious marital problems with
her husband Erkan Sivrikaya (52) and the couple entered divorce
proceedings.  Two weeks ago, Meral hanım went to live with her
daughter Ozlem Yılmaz in her home on Kaylık Avenue in the
Hacıkaplanlar neighborhood of Denizli's Pamukkale district.  The
night before last, Erkan bey, who is a construction worker, went to
his daughter's apartment building and was denied entry into his
daughter's 5th-floor flat so he came up with a frightful plan.

Erkan bey had brought a rope with him and hung it from the building's
roof.  He first descended from the roof to a 6th-floor balcony, where
he remained in a vacant flat for a while and wrote on the windows:
"Return to your nest. Honor. No pardon."  Then, Erkan bey tied the rope
to the balcony railing and lowered himself to his daughter's 5th-floor
balcony and opened the door with a screwdriver.

                      Duty, country, honor (!)

Meral hanım, who was sleeping in the living room, awoke in shock at
seeing her estranged husband.  Erkan bey tried to convince Meral hanım
to come back to him, but in vain. So he pulled out a knife and chased
the mother of his two children to the balcony, where she had gone to
shout for help, and stabbed her multiple times.  Hearing her screams,
Özlem hanım and her husband rushed to help.

Neighbors called the police and while they waited they detained Erkan
bey.  One of the neighbors, Ali Çelimli, said that "we heard the woman's
screams and ran to catch the man, who was shouting 'She betrayed me!
This is a matter of honor!'.  You can't kill a woman and call it a matter
of honor."

Erkan bey was put in jail and Meral hanım was buried yesterday.  A
wooden board served as her gravestone and her maiden name 'Kayhan'
was written on it.

                             Coach and her star 'payer'.

Işıl Avşar, who works in the human resources field in Beykoz, Istanbul,
filed suit against 'life coach' Sevgin Mükerrem Ergüneş, realtor Hatice
Defne Balcı and 'social media phenomenon' Irmak Avşar (evidently no
relation) for bilking her out of 625,650 TL (about $75,000).  The charge
against the suspects is "fraud based on exploitation of religious beliefs".
They face 15-year prison terms if convicted.  The case's first hearing
took place in court the day before yesterday.

In her own defense, Ergüneş explained that "I'm a grade-school
graduate, a 'life coach'.  My monthly income is 40,000 TL (about $5,000).
Işıl wanted me to have her fortune read.  I myself read fortunes for small
fees.  Işıl was having problems with her boyfriend so I gave her some
therapy.  She thanked me and even sent me flowers.  It is true that, all told,
I got 625,000 TL from her.  Işıl sent the money to Hatice's account.  I
didn't bilk anyone."

As for Hatice Defne Balcı, she claimed to have no involvement in the
matter whatsoever: "Sevgin hanım wanted me to arrange for a bank card
for her.  She was having problems with her ex-husband.  I arranged for
the card and gave it to her, including the cipher.  I derived no benefit at
all."

Işıl Avşar stated that she had seen Ergüneş on 'social media phenomenon'
Irmak Avşar's social media account.  "She looked at my star chart for 250
TL and saw that my boyfriend would call me.  He did call me so I came
to believe in her.  Subsequently, Ergüneş began to call me, saying that
there was a 'hoca' (soothsayer) in Adıyaman who she could have read my
fortune.  She also said that I had an evil spell on me and that she gave
money to the 'hoca' to break the evil spell.

                               "Back home" for a visit.

Hasan Hüseyin Kahriman, the married father of one child, lives in
Taşkent district of Konya province.  When he was six-years-old his
schizophrenic father left him in the Toros Mountains, where he lived
for nine years (!) by himself.  Kahriman followed the mountain animals'
example in searching for plants to eat and remain alive.  Having lived
for years with the animals, Kahriman now returns to the high mountains
even in winter to spend a few days.

Kahriman explained that "one day when I was six my father took me
10 kilometers from our village and said to me 'son, you'll sleep here
tonight.'  When I asked why, he said 'so you'll be a brave kid in the
future.'  I wondered whether the wild animals would eat me but my
dad told me 'son, no one harms a person, other than another person.'"

"I wasn't at all afraid.  I gathered up the white flowers I saw and felt
good.  That first night went just fine. A mouse came to me and then left.
When it started to rain I got under a nylon sheet I had with me and
slept.  My dad came in the morning and was glad to see me.  From
then on he left me in the mountains all the time."

"I followed the wolves to learn their hunting tactics.  Once I learned
how to hunt I didn't go back to the village.  I lived in the mountains
by myself for nine years and I liked it. Whenever I'm in the wild I'm
carefree and happy.  In regular life, people lie and cheat.  There's none
of that in the wild."

Kahriman said he wasn't at all angry with his dad for leaving him in
the mountains, adding that "my dad was from another world. People
were always cheating him so he didn't want me to experience the
same troubles. I think that's why he left me in the mountains.  We
later learned that my dad was 86% schizophrenic."

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 21 March 2021)

In Bayındır, Izmir, Hüsnü Tümen (31), who was in divorce proceedings
with his wife Serap Tümen, shot his wife and her mother Serpil
Palalı (49) to death with a hunting rifle.  Emerging from the house,
Tümen also shot and killed neighbor Hamza Kuzucuk (45).

Tümen fled after the incident but was captured and taken into custody
by police.  An hour earlier, Tümen had posted a gruesome message on
social media of the 'angel of death'  holding a sign that read "I haven't
got much to do. But don't think I've forgotten you."  Also, the day before
Tümen had posted a photo of his children with the message "You are my
only reality. Never forget this."

Tümen and his wife's divorce hearing was scheduled for 23 March.  He
was taken to jail yesterday and the victims were buried in Bayındır. In
his statement to police, Tümen said "While I was in jail (!), I heard that
my wife was living with D.A. so I filed for divorce.  But D.A. began to
threaten me so I went to the house took her phone and read her messages.
I shot both my wife and mother-in-law.  Then I was going to shoot
myself but Hamza Kuzucuk intervened and was accidentally shot."

"Beat & Release": From Russia With Un"Happy"ness

türkçe links to original Turkish article

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 20 March 2021)

No comment. The pictures say a thousand words.

Otteva Elvira (47), who lives in Russia, became friends with Alp Mutlu
(40) (whose surname means "happy"!) a year ago when he 'liked' her
photo on social media.  Mutlu, who works in the automotive sector,
invited Elvira to come to Istanbul and they went back and forth between
Turkey and Russia a number of times.

On 13 March, Elvira again came to Istanbul to see her boyfriend Mutlu
and the two of them got a room in a hotel in Ataşehir.  At the end of the
first day, Mutlu became jealous of Elvira's ex-husband and her 25-year-
old son and proceeded to beat and torture her for the next two days.
Her face became unrecognizable but she took the opportunity to flee
to the reception desk when Mutlu went out to the store.

Mutlu was arrested by police and jailed on the charge of  "cruelty".
As for Elvira, she was taken to a hospital for treatment. She told police
that "our first day at the hotel was nice. But then he said 'why don't we
have a child?' and he kept on asking me 'why is your ex-husband older
than you?' and 'why did you have a child with him?'  He was jealous of
me.  On 14 March he drank too much and began to beat me while he
said repeatedly 'why did you have that child?' and 'I'm going to kill
you!'  and 'I'm going to cut you up and make you ugly!'"

                                   One sick puppy.

"He licked my blood from his fists and said 'tastes good!'.  I was
powerless to do anything. The next day he beat me for six hours and
threw everything he could get his hands on at me, kicking me in my
head and pulling my hair.  On 15 March, as he went to the store he
said to me 'clean up the blood, I'll be right back.'  I went to the
reception desk and asked for help.  They put me in a room and called
the police.  But Alp found me again and  continued to beat me until
the police came and saved me."

Elvira's lawyer Abdullah Onur Eyüboğlu stated that "she has suffered
torture and cruelty and is in the hospital because of the risk of
bleeding in her brain. She has no one in Turkey.  She is in the hospital
by herself and very afraid, asking me whether Mutlu might come to
the hospital.  We want her to be released as soon as possible so she
can return to her country."

As for Mutlu, in a statement he made at the Family Violence
Investigation Bureau, he said that "she was threatening to tell my
wife (!) about our relationship.  That day she wanted to call my wife.
When I didn't give her the phone she hit my arm so I hit her back. I
didn't keep her at the hotel by force.  I'm very regretful." (!!)

(Hürriyet Newspaper, 20 March 2021)

                                         What's up doc?

On Sunday, the test for principals and vice-principals of schools tied to
National Ministry of Education (MEB) was conducted in 50 provinces
and 52 test centers.  But a copying scandal occurred at the test given at
the AyselYücetürk school in Ankara.  A.B., the vice-principal of an
elementary school in Sincan, was caught cheating during the test to
become a principal. (!)

A.B. was caught by the test proctor, who summoned the police to take
him into custody.  After giving a statement, A.B. was released but an
investigation has begun.

In order to cheat on the test, A.B. smuggled in a cellphone secreted in
his underwear (!).  A.B. had formed a WhatsApp group with his wife,
brother and his brother's wife called "Ahde Vefa" (all for one and one
for all).  A.B. took a photo of the test questions and sent it to the group
However (!), when the answers came back from the group A.B.'s
cellphone rang and the proctor heard it.

In his statement to police, A.B. explained that "the day before the test
I told my wife, brother and my brother's wife about my copying plan.
They said 'we're in!', so I set up the "Ahde Vefa" WhatsApp group and
added them.  I snuck my cellphone into the test center in my underpants.
Then I took a picture of the questions and sent it to them.  But I forgot
to put my phone on 'silent' and it rang when their response came back.
I got caught by the proctor who took my phone and then the police came."

Tough for A.B. to "face" his students on Monday Zoom.

"Warren Buffet ain't got nothin' on me."

Matild Manukyan, a brothel madam with outsized wealth, set records
for her tax payments and owned 486 properties and 220 taxi licenses.
When Manukyan died in 2001, her only son Kerope Çilinger, was the
sole heir.

Çilinger suffered from psychological problems and when his daughter
Dora Çilingir found him nearly dead in a hotel room, she had him
admitted to a hospital on 16 January 2018.  Dora hanım filed a suit to
become caretaker of her father's fortune.  However (!), on 26 June 2019,
the 80-year-old Çilingir escaped from the hospital and married Neslihan
Karaman, 40 years his junior, that same day.

The sudden May-December marriage raised eyebrows.

The marriage prompted Dora hanım and her sisters Linda and İlda
Çilingir to challenge the validity of the betrothal in court but Çilingir
died on 5 August 2020.  Yesterday, an Istanbul court annulled the
marriage and found for Dora hanım.  As a result, Kerope Çilingir's
enormous fortune passed to his three daughters.

Herewith the $3B fortune:
