Nicknamed "The Toolman" by admirers.
Onur Toroman (42) went to prison for killing a person with a hammer (!)
but he was released on 23 September and returned to his home in Manisa,
where he stayed with his mother and grandmother. Soon, he was
introduced to Atike Eroğlu (68) a well-off matron who lived alone in the
neighborhood.
On 26 October, Toroman asked Atike hanım for money to start a business
but she refused and an argument ensued. Atike hanım tried to defend
herself with a screwdriver but Toroman grabbed it from her and bound
her hands. He then stabbed her in the neck with the screwdriver and a
knife. Atike hanım died and Toroman fled.
Telling no one of the incident, Toroman went to Izmir the next day with
his mother. By this time, though, the smell coming from Atike hanım's
home prompted neighbors to call the Gendarmerie. Her home was
entered on 4 November and her body discovered.
When he heard this news, Toroman left Izmir and disappeared. The day
before yesterday, though, after his money ran out he returned to Izmir,
where he was nabbed by police and taken to the Saruhanlı District
Gendarmerie Command, where he confessed to the murder and was
jailed.
