A group of 60 diehard fans of Turkish TV dramas, mostly from the
USA, are visiting Turkey to see the places and cities where the 'dizi'
are filmed.  The visit of the Turkish Dramas Appreciation Group
(TDAG) (!) is being supported by Turkish Airlines.

After touring Capadoccia, Kaş and Antalya, the group came to Istanbul,
where they met with Hilal Saral, the director of  'Ask-ı Memnu'
(Forbidden Love), and actor Erkan Avcı.  Saral went to the USA
recently and was told by two Emmy-winning writers that "here in
the USA we do thrillers, action and science fiction very well.  But
when it comes to emotions, we're not very capable.  You Turks do
emotions well."

Lena Gibson (34) from Chicago explained that "3 years ago I started a
Facebook group and it has 10,000 members, some of whom, like Pam
Hemphill from Mississippi, only watch Turkish 'dizi', having given up
on American shows.  Turk 'dizi' are more detailed, have a richer texture
and are more family-oriented."

Dawn Meyer said that she's become an admirer of Turkish culture and
people. Dawn likes stars Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and Çağatay Ulusoy, in
particular.  Adrienne Luedeking (23) from Florida is the youngest
member of TDAG on the visit.  She says she's trying to learn Turkish:
"I watch the shows with a dictionary at hand and I'm taking lessons
via SKYPE with a Turkish teacher.  I want to spend a year in Turkey
to learn the language better."
