Brazilian police conducted an operation against a Turkish jet owned by
businessman Şehmuz Özkan at Recife Airport. Hundreds of  kilograms
of cocaine were seized.  The CEO of the company the jet belongs to is
Özkan's sister Çiğdem Özkan, who was previously a candidate for the
AKP (ruling party).

As the result of the raid on the jet, 1,304 kilograms of cocaine in 25
suitcases were seized.  A Spanish passenger and the 4-person Turkish
crew were taken into custody.

According to flight information obtained by Sözcü, the flight from
Turkey to Brazil was made in a Gulfstream-4 aircraft with tail number
TC-GVA.  The plane departed from Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport
at 0730 hours on 1 August without any passengers and went to Riyad,
Saudi Arabia, where 16 passengers boarded.  The plane then took off
again at noon, en route to the city of Malaga in the Andalusia autonomous
region of southern Spain.

The following day, the plane left Malaga without any passengers at 1630
hours and landed first in Fortaleza, Brazil, and then in Rebeirao Preto in
the interior of Sao Paulo state.  There, a Spaniard name Gonzales Valdes
boarded the plane and after taking off again the plane landed at Recife for
immigration purposes.

                   "What's in it?"..."Just my toothbrush."

The opening of the suitcase at Recife, captured on video by Brazilian
police, was conducted in front of Valdes after the Turkish captain V.D. (!)
said the suitcases belonged to Valdes.  Police tested the powder they found
and determined that it was cocaine.  The plane's flight plan called for it to
fly to Brussels and then to the USA.

The CEO of ACM Air is Çiğdem Özkan, the sister of of Şehmuz Özkan,
the head of Istanbul-based ACM Holding.   Çiğdem Özkan competed
to become the AKP candidate for parliament from Diyarbakır.
