Workplace violence, in spades.
Vedat K. (22) of Suruç district in Şanlıurfa province, went to
Antalya in 2020 to work in an industrial park there. During the
first 10 months he worked at the park he noticed that his
paycheck was less than expected so he complained to his boss,
but was rebuffed.
Calculating that he was owed 70,000 TL (about $2,000), Vedat
K. grabbed 15,000 TL from his boss's desk and went to Istanbul.
A while later he came back to Antalya and repaid the 15,000 TL
he had taken.
However (!), in response Vedat K. was beaten by A.T., O.T.,
S.T. and A.A., who bound him to a chair in a warehouse,
where they tortured Vedat K. for three days, breaking his
teeth and forcing cockroaches down his open mouth.
The torturers even videoed their dastardly acts. When Vedat K.
recovered he didn't file a police complaint because he didn't
have access to the video. In any case, Vedat K. went back to
work for eight months during which time he succeeded in
secretly copying the torture video from the fiends' phones.
Vedat K. then fled to Suruç and filed a complaint. The
torturers gave statements but were released and the trial
continues, with the next hearing scheduled for 25 December.
