The American Dream, version Meltem 2.0
More details are emerging about the sudden marriage of actress Meltem
Miraloğlu to a rich American named Patrick (LNU/Last Name
Unknown). It turns out that Meltem hanım went to the USA to learn
English, settling first in a one-room apartment in New Jersey.
Voice-over artist and director Onur Akay made the revelations on the
TV show "İkinci Sayfa" (Page Two), saying that in her fervent desire
to get a U.S. green card for residency Meltem hanım went to the USA,
lived in a small apartment in New Jersey and started waitressing to
get by. She met a Turk there but he was the jealous type and even
broke Meltem hanım's nose.
...and they lived happily ever after.
Akay stated that he asked a friend of his in Chicago to take Meltem
hanım under his wing there. Subsequently, Meltem hanım met
Patrick LNU, a retired teacher of some means, in Chicago. Patrick
LNU felt sorry for Meltem's plight and adopted her (!), even telling
his son that he now had a sister.
Nevertheless, as events transpired Patrick LNU became enamored
of Meltem hanım and proposed marriage. Despite the disapproval
of Patrick LNU's neighbors, the couple married 10 days ago.
Akay claimed that Meltem hanım's desire for American citizenship
was so pronounced that when she was in court over the broken nose
incident she asked the judge: "can I get a Green Card since I've been
beaten up?"
For her part, Meltem hanım explained that "the age difference is not
a problem. He's young at heart. I don't care about his money and
American citizenship (!). He made me a very romantic marriage
proposal. I don't think any woman could have refused it."
