Haute cuisine for the discerning python.
An Iranian businessman rented a furnished luxury flat in Bahçeşehir,
Istanbul, and moved in. The day before yesterday, he did some food
shopping for the kitchen and returned to the flat around noon. When
he opened the refrigerator he noticed some bags in the freezer
compartment. He couldn't figure out what was in the bags so he
took them out and discovered to his horror that the contents were frozen
rats. (!)
The Iranian called the municipality and the police about the rats,
which were white like guinea pigs. Taking no chances, the authorities
summoned teams from AFAD and UMKE (disaster response), along
with officials from the Istanbul health office. In full quarantine
uniforms, the officials took possession of the rats.
Sort of like frozen ratsicles.
Police contacted the flat's owner who told them that the previous
renter had been a foreigner who had a pet python (!) and that,
presumably, the man kept the rats in the freezer for the snake's
subsequent meals.
The new Iranian renter told Hürriyet: "I just rented the place. After
shopping, I was putting the groceries in the refrigerator and when I
opened the freezer I was confronted by the frozen rats."
Previous renter.
