                               Rent at your own risk.

In Sarıyer, Istanbul, Serkan Kaptan (42) was living in the home of
the father of Kerem Gürgensuyu (40) as a renter.  A disagreement
between Kaptan and Gürgensuyu about the amount of the rent came
to court.  On 23 May 2023, Gürgensuyu went to see Kaptan at his
father's house, with the former raining down death threats about the
latter, according to witnesses.

Kaptan's wife would not allow Gürgensuyu into the house.  When
Kaptan came home he and his wife decided to register a complaint
against Gürgensuy at the local police station.  While the couple
waited at a bus stop, Gürgensuyu came from behind and stabbed
Kaptan a number of times. (!)

A case was opened against Gürgensuyu for the stabbing attack.
At the court hearing the two came face to face.  Kaptan recalled
that Gürgensuyu had stabbed him three times, requiring him to stay
for a while in intensive care, and he opined that his attacker was not
remorseful.  For his part, Gürgensuyu claimed "self-defense" (!)

The judge asked Gügensuyu "If you're released will you attack him
again?"  In reply, the penitent Gürgensuyu said "No sir! Such a thing
will not happen!"   As a result, the judge ordered Gürgensuyu's release
with the stipulation that he remain 200 meters from Kaptan at all
times - "Otherwise you'll be incarcerated again."
