Umut: "It's all just publicity for my latest film."

Özcan Ata, the owner of Bretz Furniture, appealed to the İstanbul public
prosecutor claiming that for the past three years, he has been the victim
of extortion by Okan Umut and his gang, who previously shook down
Ata by stopping his car and robbing him.  Next, Umut raided the hotel
Ata was staying in, requiring Ata to have the police escort him from the
hotel.  Another time, Umut fired gunshots at Ata's car, hitting Ata three
times.

However (!), although Umut was convicted of related crimes against Ata
that included "intentional wounding that could cause broken bones",
"selling, carrying and possessing unlicensed guns" and "property damage",
since the associated penalties have not yet been definitively defined
Umut has not gone to jail. (!)

Ata's lawyer Salih Karataş explained in his petition that "Okan Umut
has called my client 44 times with threats, most recently launching an
armed attack on my client's workplace.  The fact that he is not
in jail poses a grave danger to my client.  We want police protection and
Umut incarcerated."

Victim Ata not planning to attend the film's premiere.
