Chechen Intrigue in Turkey: Spy Thriller Script

(Hurriyet Newspaper, 21 July 2014)

The late Chechen Ickeriya State Consul

Medet Onlu, the Honorary Consul of
the Chechen Ickeriya State was killed
in an assassination at his office in
the Chechenistan Honoray Consulate
in Ankara last year on 22 May. His
wife Leyla Eser Onlu has now made
startling accusations in a petition to
the Ankara Prosecutor who is conducting
an investigation into the murder.

Leyla Onlu claims that the assassination
occurred while her husband was being
surveilled by the MIT (Turkish National
Intelligence Organization) and Police
Intelligence and that he was killed because
he resited the use of Chechens in the war
in Syria.

In her petition, Leyla Onlu stated that "my
husband was the key man for the Chechen
cause in Turkey but our family was constantly
kept under surveillance by Turkish intelligence.
The fact is that my husband's life was under a
microscope and yet his killers and those behind
them have not been found, although the murder
occurred in the center of Ankara in his own
office, is a shameful commentary on the Turkish
state, the police and the intelligence organiztions."

The family's lawyer Erdal Dogan has applied
to the prosecutor to have the investigation
intensified, noting that  "Russian passport holder
Rizvan Ezbualtov, for whom there is a red bulletin
(arrest warrant) pending, entered Turkey through
Ataturk Airport on 17 April 2013 and left via the
same route two days after the murder, on 24
May 2013. However, this information is not
fully included in the investigation file, constituting
a major shortfall. In addition, Ezbulatov was met
at the airport at midnight by Turkish citizen E.G.
and associates but this was not thoroughly
looked into. Another major failing."

            The hazards of self-medication...

Sevket K. (48), who lives near the police station in the
Fatih neighborhood of Adiyaman, thought that because
his stomach was aching it was dirty. To solve the problem
Sevket K. drank 2 or 3 cups of liquid detergent that he
found in his kitchen.

When his ache worsened Sevket K. sought help from his
neighbors who called emergency services. Sevket K. was
then transported to Adiyaman Training and Research Hospital
where he is in good condition.

Dr. Umut Gulacti explained that "the patient was brought
to us after drinking an undetermined amount of liquid
detergent. We're are keeping him under observation and
his general condition is good right now."

Sevket K.'s wife Remziye K. stated that "I didn't see him
drink the detergent myself because I wasn't at home at
the time. They called me and told me my husband was
at the hospital so I went there. He told our neighbors that
his stomach had become dirty so that's why he drank the
detergent. That's about all there is to say now but he
seems to be ok."

(Hurriyet Newspaper, 17 July 2014)

Robust rooster's neck saved by council member.

In Karaman, an individual claimed that he was being
disturbed by his neighbor's rooster's excessive crowing
and filed a complaint with the Prime Minister's
Communications Center (BIMER). A member of the
Karaman Municipal Council bought the rooster - said
to crow 610 time per hour (!) - solving the problem
between the two neighbors.

The complaining citizen, who lives in the Yesilada
neighborhood of Karaman, explained that he works
at night and was unable to sleep in the morning when
he came from work because of the crowing rooster.
He warned his neighbor, the woman who owns the
rooster, about the situation but when there was no
resolution he filed his complaint about the rooster
and its owner with the municiality and BIMER.

Officials evaluated the complaint from the citizen,
who claimed that the rooster had crowed 610 times
between 5 and 6 o'clock, and informed the Karaman
Municipality, with a written report provided to the
Municipal Council. One of the council's members,
Beytullah Karakas, purchased the rooster in order
to resolve the problem.

Karakas explained that "one party says 'don't I
have the right to raise two roosters?'  On the other
hand, there are sick people and the elderly. This
fellow comes from work and can't sleep. We were
surprised by this, too. I said the rooster should be
given to a relative or butchered but she (the owner)
said she couldn't butcher the rooster she had raised
with her own hands. There was nothing left to do
but for me to buy the rooster for 100 TL ($50), so
the problem has been solved."

Murderer? Well, Yes. Thief? Never!

turkce links to original Turkish article

(Hurriyet Newspaper, 15 July 2014)

Öldürdüm, parçaladım, gömdüm ama ..
No honor among thieves, according to Galip bey.

Galip Ozdemir (47) was caught while carrying a
suitcase containing the body parts of his girlfriend
Esma Ekinci (37) whom he had killed and then
dismembered in a hotel room in Antalya. However,
when accused of robbery Ozdemir took great
exception, declaring  "give me life in prison for
the murder but I can't tolerate one day in jail with
robbery on my record!"

Continuing, Ozdemir said that "My children will be
judges and prosecutors. Don't let there be any harm
to them coming from me. I don't want to offend the
deceased in God's presence. She's dead and gone
but I took care of all her needs."

Ozdemir's remarks shocked the courtroom. Last
year on 26 December Ozdemir first smothered his
girlfriend Esma Ekinci in a hotel room. He then took
her body to the bathtub, cut her into pieces and put
the body parts in a suitcase. Ozdemir next went to
a forest where he buried Ekinci's hands, which he
had severed from her wrists. Later Ozdemir was
caught by the Gendarmerie with the suitcase
containing the body.
