A "Mongo" wanna-be auditioning.
Emre Kaya (28) is pursuing a masters degree in biochemistry at Long
Island University in New York but he also drives a "hansom cab" (horse
carriage) in Central Park to make extra money.
The day before yesterday while Kaya was sitting in his carriage
awaiting a customer, his horse "Mary" came under attack by a stranger.
Kaya jumped from his cab to pursue the assailant, shouting "what do you
want from this poor animal?!", and recording the incident on his cellphone
at the same time.
Kaya caught the suspect, who was said to have possessed a knife, and
asked him "are you crazy?!" The horse-beater fled but based on Kaya's
video the police are looking for him.
The New York Post newspaper likened the incident to Mel Brooks's
famous 1977 comedy film "Blazing Saddles" and the scene where the
character "Mongo" knocks out a horse with one punch.
