"Chop Shop" Report: Beşiktaş Football Chief's Car Nearly Guillotined

                Back bumper rescued at the very last moment!

Ahmet Nur Çebi, the president of the Beşiktaş football club, had his 

3.5 million TL (about $450,000) Mercedes S350 automobile stolen

from in front of his home in Üsküdar, Istanbul, and filed a complaint

with the police.  By looking at security video, police determined

that the thieves took the key from the guard shack and stole the car 

when the security guard watching it took a bathroom break (!).  

Police reviewed 110 camera shots from the region and determined

that the car had been brought to the Maslak Auto Industry City on

the other side of the Bosphorus, finding the car in a repair shop, 

where Eren Yıldız (38), who had purchased the car for 200,000 TL,

and Savaş Ç. were disassembling it.  Anıl Kandemir, who stole the

car in the first place, was apprehended, along with Yıldız and Savaş

Ç.

Kandemir and Yıldız were jailed and Savaş Ç. was released.  The

car was returned to Çebi.
